The California Department of Education (CDE) is evaluating different Web gateway products that provide URL filtering and application control to defend internal users from Internet-borne threats. For those agencies that operate Web gateways: 1. What product do you use for Web filtering? (e.g., Websense, Blue Coat, Barracuda, McAfee) 2. How well is your Web filtering product working? 3. Do you have any other general feedback related to the Web filtering product that you would like to share? At CDE, primary administration of Web filtering is handled by the Web team. If Web filtering is handled by network, security, or other IT professionals at your agency, please forward this to the appropriate person. It would be helpful to have responses by Friday, March 13 either here at this blog or to firstname.lastname@example.org. In return for everyone’s help, I will compile the responses and send them back to Michael Chen at California Department of Technology and also to all who respond. In addition to filtering and blocking, this product can intercept and transform web traffic on OSI Layers 5-7. This product is extremely versatile and powerful and can be customized to protect against almost any type of attack with customizable iRules.
